Exam time and a trip to the zoo!

Yes, it's that time of year again, lol, it's final exam time Scared Smiley Text !  So of course I am in the midst of studying for exams, getting a paper done for English, crtitiquing a speech, and then I have a speech to give later today....a special ocassion speech.  Thankfully this speech will be a little easier in that no research was needed, plus the time limit is shorter.  But in the middle of all this studying, I did get to enjoy going on a field trip Friday with college classmates of mine, we had a really great time! Happy Smiley  We went to a really large zoo about a couple of hours from us, so we had to leave a little early in the morning.  We stopped for a quick breakfast at McDonald's (we got our food to-go) and then went on down the road.  We rode in two different school vans, it made for an interesting trip, lol, nothing like a bunch of nutty young adults getting together like thatHappy Smiley .  The zoo was really huge so my legs really got a workout.  We had an awesome time!  There was soooo much to see, there aren't enough words to describe it, so here are some pictures:

Studying, studying!

Book Surf 1I've been flying thru a lot of studying this week, but things are slowly winding down towards graduation from community college.  I gave my persuassive speech on Monday, it was on "Why Athletes Need a Cap on Their Salary".  I did alright on the speech but was short on my time, so I'm sure I lost points on that....oh well.  On Tuesday I had a major Math test, I did good on that test and now I'm holding onto a "B" n that class.  Also, Tuesday and Wednesday was a little hectic as I was getting a sales presentation together for my "Sales and Advertising" class.  Everyone in the class was partnered with someone to put together a role-play presentation.  The person I was partnered with was frantically getting her stuf together s well just like I was.  I had gotten some of it done but so much other schoolwork got in the way of my completing it.  So we worked on it and finally got it all put together on Wednesday.  Our role-play presentation was on Poppa John's Pizza, I played the role of someone representing the Poppa John's company Smiley.  We managed to do very well and we also made the required time frame of 10-12 minutes.  I picked up my graduation cap/gown, announcements, and name cards on Wednesday, so it's time to get busy and get those announcements in the mail.  Some of them I will be mailing to relatives and friends, and some of them I will be giving to friends of mine.  For now, I continue on with getting other assignments done.  I have a major paper to do for my online English class, an Economics test, as well as critiquing a speech and writing a paper on that too.  Physical ed. class is progressing well, although we all got quite a workout on the exercise bikes smiley.  But I need to stay in shape so I can be ready for my summer job at camp.  Well, that's about it for now, have a great weekend!

Excitement here!

Jumping SmileyJust a little excited here, lol!  In a little over 3 weeks from now, I will be completely done with community college, woo hoo!Happy Smiley  I have been staying very busy with schoolwork....writing papers, taking quizzes and tests, and writing out my persuassive speech.  I did ok with my English quiz and my test in Economics.  I aced my test in "Sales & Advertising" class, I am really enjoying that class Happy Smiley.  Of course, I am enjoying my physical education class too, doing a lot of exercising on the exercise bike and other exercise machines they have there,  I plan on doing some weight lifting too Smiley, I kind of need to get my muscles built up strong.  Thursday was a fun day at school since it was Spring Fling day, a day where they booths set up with games and food.  It was fun!  I did a tug-of-war game and did pretty good with it.  I played some other games and won a couple of prizes.....a basketball, a travel coffe mug, and a keychain.  I tried playing this soccer game   Smiley so that I could win a soccer ball for my sister who loves to play soccer.  However, I am not too coordinated when it comes to soccer, I am built more for basketball, so I just couldn't get it no matter how much I tried.  Well, the food was great, I had BBQ chicken and hush puppies Smiley, fantastic!

Other excitement.......I finally made application for my meal plan and housing at the college I'll attend this Fall.  Of course I picked the meal plan that was going to give me the most food for my money, lol.  The meal plan I chose will give me unlimited visits to the campus restaurant and also extra money to use at any of the on-campus gast good places (and a discount at select off-campus places).  Sounds like a good deal.  For housing, I got to make five choices, so I chose the honors dorm, the international dorm, and three suite-style arrangements.  Now, if I can earn a 3.3 GPA I will qualify for the honors program and honors dorm....we'll see how that goes, lol!  Oh, I will also be picking up my graduation cap and gown next Wednesday animated smileys school 11, totally excited!  As I said, there's lots of excitement in the air!

School and fun!

It's hard to believe it but I only have a little over a month until I am completely done with community college...I will graduate May 10th Thinking Smiley Text !  College work has been going well.  I made a 90% on my Economics test and made a 100% on my Sales/Marketing test.  At the moment, I am currently working on an informative speech, I am doing my speech on persuading everyone as to why athletes need a cap on their salary (in other words, not getting such outrageous salaries).  I also have a quiz and paper coming up for an English class but that is not due until next Friday.

I had a great time this past weekend at the statewide SGA conference (SGA stands for Student Government Association).  Some of my fellow students who are officers and delegates came to the conference (I was a delegate).  There were the usual business meetings and also workshops on things like leadership.  There was also competition between the different community colleges, it was great fun Happy Smiley!  My friend and I competed in a ping pong tournament, however we did not get very far in it.  I did not last very long in the log rolling contest or on the mechanical bull either.  I was determined to win a prize by riding on the mechanical bull for at least 30 seconds, but the longest I stayed on was for 24 seconds.  Needless to say I was very sore after doing all of thatSad Smilies.  But I did find my area of expertise.....a contest that was set up like the game show Jepordy.  I managed to answer enough questions in order to go stand in this thing with money blowing all around you, lol.  Of course, I grabbed as much as I could, lol.  I won $7, yay!Happy Smiley  The hotel we stayed in was very nice, the food was great, and we even had a nice formal dinner on Saturday evening.  We also threw a surprise party for the lady who is in charge of SGA at our college.  As the party was getting started I had a little "accident" with my chair as I was sitting down.   Indifferent SmileysLet's just say that my chair got caught on something as I was slidding back into it.....I ended up flipping backwards in my chair....sigh, I am sure my friends got a good laugh out of that one Animated Laughing Smiley, so embarassingConfused Smileys!  Other than that I had a great time.  I am looking forward to going on a class field trip with some other students who are a part of the student services program like I am.  Tomorrow, we will be going to visit a TV news station, Ripley's Aquarium, and also a college....and of course, we'll stop somewhere nice to eat, lol.  It's a great way to start off our Easter break from community college.!Happy Smiley

Goodbye Burger King and Biology!

Smiley

I'm waving goodbye to Burger King and Biology!  As I mentioned in my previous post, I had been offered a tutoring job at my community college and was thinking/praying about leaving Burger King.  Well it's official, I turned in my two weeks notice to Burger King last week.....my last night of work there will be this Saturday night.  I am relieved to be all done with them as the stress and lack of sleep from working there was interferring with my being able to concentrate on my schoolwork Smiley.  I worked there for a year and a half as the drive-thru cashier, it has been quite an experience.  I can definitely say that I have learned a lot about running a business.....both the positive and the negative side of things.  Having been offered the tutoring job, it was time to move on.  I can work as a tutor for the rest of the school year, then move on into my summer job at the Christian camp. What's nice is that I have complete peace about this and how it all works out perfectly.

I'm also waving goodbye to my Biology class.  Inspite of much tutoring and extra studying, I still had not been able to improve my grade in this class.  I did not do any better on last week's Biology test at all Smiley....don't ask what I scored on it.  In order for me to even pass the class, I would have to make "A's" on everything in Biology for the rest of the school year.  And yes, I could pour all of my energy into Biology to accomplish that.  However, the last time I poured all my efforts into one class (Financial Accounting) I passed that class, but it was at the expense of two easy classes that I ended up not doing well in.  I did not care to do that again and risk doing bad in my other classes because of focusing on Biology.  It is a "lost cause", a class I need to try and attempt some other time...just not now when I am aiming for a good G.P.A.  Thankfully dropping Biology is not going to affect anything.  And once again, I have complete peace about saying "goodbye" to Biology, now I can put forth more effort into my other classes.

Checking in....

Happy SmileyHi everybody, Sportsfan finally checking in here, lol.  The past two weeks have been super busy with school, homework, and working.....and it just keeps getting busier.  At community college, I did my informative speech on homeschooling, I think I did alright, I did manage to stay in the time limit ( which is something everyone else had trouble with).  I've also had papers to write and tests to take, with more exams to come next week, so my brain has been getting a workout, lol Thinking Smiley Text .  Biology will be my toughest exam, I did not do very well on the previous one.  I have been getting some tutoring for this class so I hope to do better this time around.  Speaking of tutoring, I was offered a tutoring job at the community college I attend.  There are some students needing help in some classes I've had before, so they asked me if I could help.....and I would get paid to do it Smiley.  I've already started one tutoring session this past week and will start another one next week.....I'm really excited to be helping out my fellow students.

I got to finally visit the college I got accepted into for this Fall.  My mom and I drove up there this past Tuesday while I was on Spring Break.  I had a blast!Smiley  I got to see some of the campus and visit the hospitality department which has my major......restaurant management.  Later, I went to their campus bookstore where I bought a college hat, then had coffee in the cafe next to the bookstore.  My mom and I then went to the workshops they had for transfer students like me, we got a lot of questions answered there.....and enjoyed the snacks they had laid out for everyone, lol.  I had a really great time there, I loved it!  I am so psyched about attending there this Fall Smiley!

While school has been going well, my job at Burger King continues to be a huge pain for me Smiley.  I am trying to continue working there until I finish school in about two months, then later move on to my summer camp job.  However, it's been frustrating for me.....just different things causing me aggravation there Smiley.  I am thinking about possibly giving them a two-weeks notice and quit working at Burger King a lot sooner. I can't take the stress there and concentrate on my schoolwork at the same time, it's too much.  Now I do have the tutoring job I just started, so it's not like I will lose much in the way of income.  Deinitely something to think and pray about!
